We came ready to play – China coach Liu Hao

Manama, Bahrain, July 18, 2019 – China came ready to play in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship as they aced their opening match with a sweep of Morocco 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-13) in Pool A on Thursday.

China coach Liu Hao: “We played very well and we came to this match ready to play. Now we are looking to get ready for our next opponent. Our team is around 70 per cent to where I want them to be. We just want to do it step by step.”

China captain Chen Leiyang: “This win was very important for us. We talked to each other very well on the court and we are happy to get this win. Moving forward, we will take things one at a time and we hope to play well each game.”

Morocco coach Khalid Berma: “China played very well – fast and good offensively. Our team played well in the second set, but I think we had some problems that we should work on.

“We always want our players to remain positive. We want to develop our attitude in our game tomorrow. This is the first experience for all our players to play in a World Championship, so I am happy because we played well in the second set and we showed what we can do.”

Morocco captain Oussama Elazhari: “This is our first match and we lost. It was important for us, but we are now looking forward to our next matches with Bahrain and Puerto Rico. We want to have a better performance and we will now work on the positives and the negatives.”
