Manama, Bahrain, July 19, 2019 – Cuba closed out a fantastic five-setter against Argentina (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 22-25, 15-13) in Friday’s Pool B match at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship in Isa Sport City.

Cuba coach Jesus Angel Cruz: “The key to this match was the motivation of my athletes. They played with the right attitude today in all sets. We would have wanted to win in three sets but any victory is a victory. Any victory is important because if we win tomorrow, we may have the chance to go to the top eight teams.”

Cuba captain Julio Alberto Gomez: “It was important for us to stay focused. We needed to work harder than them (Argentina), in order for us to get this result.”

Argentina coach Martin Lopez: “In the first part, we were able to control the attack, but then we made a lot of mistakes. We were able to address our errors but we could not close out the match with the victory.

“We just to have prepare ourselves tomorrow to win.”

Argentina captain Luciano Palonsky: “I really don’t have anything much to say. We know we can be a good team but we just didn’t play well today.”
