Im Donghyeok: “We will go one step at a time”

Manama, Bahrain, July 19, 2019 – Korea captured their second win in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship with a 3-0 match (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) against Egypt on Friday at Isa Sport City.

Korea coach Lee Kyungsuk: “It is good to win today but from my point of view as a coach, there is no point of satisfaction. There is more that we need to do to reach our goals for this championship.

“We want to thank Korea’s fans and supporters who have been coming to watch the matches. We get a lot of energy from their support.”

Korea captain Im Donghyeok: “This is just the first stage of the competition. We are happy now and quite satisfied to win, but we still have a lot of matches to play. We will go one step at a time and we can show more of our abilities.

“There are spectators who have come to support us all the way from faraway places, even from home. Our win today is special because we can get an extra boost of power from them.”

Egypt coach Hossameldin Eissawy: “There are very strong groups here and most of the teams play modern volleyball. We’ve come here to play strong matches. I had hoped that I won the first match. It was our big chance and big push to win another match.

“My team made more mistakes today than we did yesterday. I know that.

“This is the second time that we have defeated ourselves.”

Egypt captain George Bakhit: “We are very sad about the match today. It could have been an easy match for us but we didn’t play well, just like yesterday. We started the game with good conditions but we made so many mistakes. Any team can make mistakes, but ours was just too many. How could we win like that?”
