Bakiewicz hopes victory over Morocco will prepare them against Tunisia and Cuba

Manama, Bahrain, July 22, 2019 – Poland came prepared as they cruised past Morocco 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-11) in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship.

Poland coach Michal Bakiewicz
: “For sure we played much better today. The most important thing for me is that we won this game. We have a lot of respect for Team Morocco, but today our game was really good, so I am happy. We have to be ready because we still have to play with Tunisia and Cuba, and I hope we will play very well also.”

Poland player Mateusz Janikowski: “It’s always tough when you lose the first group and you have to play for the 9th-16th places and not for the top eight, which was our target for the tournament. It is a positive thing that we were able to forget about that and focus on our game and win quite easily today. In our next games, we have to motivate ourselves to play well and get the best result in this competition.”

Morocco coach Khalid Berma: “We gained some good experience in this game. A positive thing for the players is that they gained experience at a high-level game. Poland are a very big team and they had a good serve. We had problems with our reception and our side-outs.

“We made many mistakes with our out-of-system plays and Poland had strong serve and were very organised. We hope to gain more experience.”
