Bakiewicz: “Everyone in the team helped today”

Manama, Bahrain, July 20, 2019 – Poland registered their first win in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship with a 3-1 match (20-25, 25-20, 25-18, 26-24) over Canada on Sunday evening at Isa Sport City.

Poland coach Michał Bakiewicz: “It was a very hard game. We knew that Canada can play well. But we did less mistakes today and this is very important for us. Everyone in the team helped today."

Poland player Remigiusz Kapica: “We played a smart game today. We played very well in attack. We were not bad in defence and we had more digs that the previous games. We also had better service."

Canada coach Joao Paulo Bravo: “As a team, we played well today within our system.

“The team is working and trying hard every single day.

“It’s just about continuing to work to keep getting better. We are trying to improve so let’s see what comes in the next round.”

Canada player Fynnian McCarthy: “We made some very good improvements over the last couple of days. It’s always tough playing the Polish team, but I think we made some big adjustments. Despite losing the match, we’re still proud of the way we played.”
